14 Favorite Travel Moments of 2014
2014 was a beautiful and moving year for me, filled with an unprecedented number of travel experiences that made the year pass like a travel aficionado’s dream sequence. Since January, I visited a whopping 22 countries, fulfilling my goal of traveling to 25 countries in my 25th year and pushing my total country count to 34. In October I began a new adventure in Costa Rica where I am working in marketing for an outdoor education company.

As 2014 comes to an end, making way for new travel destinations in 2015, here’s a look at 14 of my favorite travel moments of the year, in order of occurrence.
Madrid
It took me a few months to acclimate, but in 2014 I fell in love with living in Madrid and slowly understanding its charms.
Marrakech
I set foot on the African continent for the first time this year during a visit to enchanting Morocco with my friend Emily.
Spain
Roadtripping through the south of Spain with my parents made for wonderful memories.
Auschwitz
Touring Auschwitz was by far the most moving experience of the year. I will never forget all I saw and learned nor how it felt to be in a place where such catastrophic tragedy occurred.
Bennelux Challenge
Benelux challenge! Three countries in three days – Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
Norway Fjords
Taking in the breathtaking scenes of the Fjords of Norway.
Portugal
My wonderful British friends Lesley and Steve invited me to stay with them in Vale do Lobo. I just love southern Portugal’s rocky coastlines!
Running with the Bulls

Unexpectedly discovering the splendid history and culture of Slovenia with my mom.
I’ll Always Have Paris
Paris will always make the list. It’s my favorite city I’ve ever been to!

No matter how far I ramble, I’ll always be a California girl at heart. This fall my brother, a sophomore at USC, and my grandma, a resident of Mountain View, helped me explore new sites in my home state.
San Francisco Giants in Washington, D.C.
Watching my San Francisco Giants win their first playoff game at Nationals Park. They then went on to win the World Series!
Costa Rica
In October, I began an exploration of another region of the world, by moving to Costa Rica!
